The urge to do something for the society started at school when I was part of CMCA (children movement for civic awareness), where I was a part of civic awareness events. In my college, I got a chance to join NCC (National Cadet Corps) where I was trained and was part of many events and activities.
After college, I personally started understanding the problems faced by underprivileged children and women in our society which made a huge impact on my life.I especially love to teach children in my free time and now they have become part of my life. I teach them regularly English and Dance and also, to elders at old age homes and I am happy to see them learn and teaching special kids has been the most beautiful experience in my life. Our Toy drive initiative has been started to spread smiles and bring joy to children.
Our main Focus is on women who have faced domestic violence, or any sort of abuse and who have been struggling to overcome helping them to be independent and also legal support in certain cases. We have been conducting various activities at old age homes and government schools and private schools across Bangalore to create awareness on community service and their individual responsibility, blood donation drives, health checkups for elders, polio drive campaigns, cleanliness drive, dance and English training for elders, traffic awareness programs and many other initiatives.
The most vulnerable people in our communities need us now more than ever during pandemic and in this regard, People for Passion (NGO) has taken up a campaign called Hunger To Hope where I have distributed dry grocery kits, food and medical aid to the needy during the covid-19 crisis in Bengaluru.Online classes and workshops for Orphanage home children.
We as a team have also started the Teach for Cause initiative to support education and teach underprivileged children throughout the year.” Harshitha talks about her inspiration- “My parents have a major impact on my life. My father instilled a strong conscience and my mother taught me to be strong and independent. And, my role model whom I always look upon is Kiran Bedi (1st women IPS officer and social activist) and Mother Teresa.”
Her future goal is to start a firm to support women who face mental trauma and domestic violence or some sort of abuse, who lack education and to make them aware of their rights to support them, council them to be independent on their own.
There have been hurdles, and many ups and downs in her journey but, she believed in herself. Her goal is to create a difference which helped her overcome a lot of it with support of her family and volunteers.

She has also been recognized as Great Warriors of Humanity by the International Human Rights Advisory Council for humanitarian services rendered during Covid-19.
She feels this is just a beginning step. A lot more to do and a long way to go. She feels blessed for all the love which she has received from every individual and her extended family.
Her heartfelt message to youngsters- “Youth are the frontliners of our dreams. Guiding them and introducing them to volunteer and community service at an early age would bring in drastic changes. Be the change you want to witness in this community. Take that step today instead of waiting for someone else to start. Life is really short. Love and compassion are all that is needed to make this world a better place”.
She became successful not only because of her hard work but also, because of her soft-heartedness towards others. Her kind heart and good deeds has helped many youngsters get motivated with her. She has motivated a number of people with her work. Her determination, dedication and constant thrust for achieving something the highest in life became the reasons for her successful life. She struggled with a lot of things before getting to where she is today.
We salute to her for becoming a role model for all the passionate women out there.
Best wishes from her side and she welcomes you to join her page to illuminate her inspiring journey of how one person can also make a world of difference.
